The technique
The pattern is scratched by hand through the glaze before firing. No two lines land the same. That is what gives Root its graphic edge.
The character
Root was drawn as a set: plates, bowls, pourers, teapot, all sharing one rhythm of lines. Put two pieces side by side and they read as one table.
